Randy Lerner will not stand in Ashley Young's way as move to Manchester United nears

Aston Villa chairman Randy Lerner believes there is no point in trying to stop England winger Ashley Young’s move to Manchester United. American Lerner, back in England to look for a new manager, is expecting a formal £16million bid from United for the 25-year-old, who has a year left on his contract.
Young has hinted he is open to offers and Lerner thinks it is pointless to propose a new deal.

He is also not prepared to take a loss by insisting the ex-Watford star stays for another season.
The Villa camp are convinced Young has set his heart on a move to Old Trafford and want to finalise his departure as quickly as possible. They will tell him so today.
Lerner’s main priority is to find a replacement for Gerard Houllier. He will start interviews in the next 48 hours and former England coach Steve McClaren remains his first choice.
