Gallery: History-makers

United winning a record 19 league titles was completed with 90 nervy minutes at Ewood Park, Blackburn on 14 May 2011 - but the achievement of course spans many decades, dating back to 1908.


19 and counting...

1908 : Sandy Turnbull and Billy Meredith were two of the stars in United's first league win in 1908

1911 : The 1911 triumph, clinched by a single point, was United's first at Old Trafford

1952 : Matt Busby's first title came in 1952 as a new United dynasty began

1956 : The first of two consecutive titles for the Busby Babes came in 1956

1957 : A muddy but elated captain Roger Byrne holds the league trophy aloft in 1957

1965 : George Best and Nobby Stiles parade United's first post-Munich league trophy in 1965

1967 : A side featuring Best, Denis Law and Bobby Charlton won the league again under Busby in 1967

1993 : After 26 years of hurt, United won the first Premier League title in 1993

1994 : And that became two in a row in 1994 as Sir Alex Ferguson's men won the Double

1996 : A third Premier League title in four years - and 10th overall - came in 1996

1997 : United's dominance continued in 1997 as the Reds finished seven points clear of Newcastle

1999 : United wrested the trophy back from Arsenal in 1999, the first leg of a historic Treble

2000 : United retained the title at a canter in 2000, finishing 18 points clear of Arsenal

2001 : Sir Alex became the first manager to win three league titles in a row in 2001

2003 : After finishing third the previous season, United bounced back in style in 2003

2007 : It was four years before the Reds returned to the Premier League summit - and how sweet it was

2008 : Premier League title no.10 came in 2008 as part of a league and European double

2009 : And the Reds equalled Liverpool's record of 18 league titles in 2009

2011 : United's players and staff celebrate after clinching a 19th league title in 2011
